Increase your knowledge and confidence in using technology and learn how to integrate those methods into classroom instruction in order to enhance students’ learning. This class will cover a wide variety of technology tools teachers might use in their classrooms.
Current thought and best practice regarding technology indicates that computers are best used by students as a means to solve problems as part of the learning process. Rather than an instructional device, the computer should be used as a tool, with technology embedded into the curriculum and traditional content areas.
Course topics will include
**Finding and identifying top-notch web-based resources,
**Online Learning Communities,
**Great educational and software programs,
**Visual organizers,
**Finding grant sources for technology purposes.
We’ll look into other educational techniques that blend well with technology; things such as Differentiation, Constructivism, and Project-based Learning. We’ll investigate various technology hardware devices such as iPads, interactive whiteboards, digital cameras, video recorders, and explore the educational tech tools (Web 2.0) such as podcasts, blogging, wikis and working in “the cloud.” Participants will apply these new methods in their classroom and report to the group on their successes, failures and insights.
There is no technology skill pre-requisite for the class, just the willingness to integrate technology into your teaching. The class will give you a chance to use some really fun and cutting-edge technology tools. All levels of technology experience and comfort level are welcome in this course.
